Rest In Peace Alan

This blog is to remember Alan Pepperell. A guy I knew from SSAGO that has sadly passed away. I did not know him all that well but I was very shocked to hear the knews and very sad that he has gone. I have good memories of him from SSAGO trips such as the one to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and also the Christmas ball. I'm thinking about your family, Alan and hoping that it will get easier for them with time. Alan, you will be missed. Rest In Peace.

Pocketful of Sunshine

It is such nice weather here! I had to buy suncream for fear of burning.

On Friday we tried to go to the zoo but since it was Good Friday, and Good Friday bring a public holiday here, the queue was massive so we decided to ditch the zoo and go somewhere else instead. We ended up going on a boat tour of Copenhagen. It was nice to see the city from a different perspective and see all the landmarks and monuments in one sitting.

On Saturday we went to the beach which was nice, although quite cold as it was very windy. I made my name in shells :D

Sunday we tried to go to this club called Rubadub but as it was Easter the queue was again very long and we gave up. Instead we found this bar which had cool grafitti all over the walls.

One thing I find strange about Copenhagen and perhaps Denmark in general, is the lack of birthday cards. There are no shops which just sell cards and it took me about an hour to find a card fo rmy sister.

I start uni tomorrow! I've the reading...very painstakingly as it was loooooooooooooooong, but also quite interesting. I'm looking forward to doing some work actually. It will make it feel less like a holiday as at the moment I can't imagine doing a 20 page essay as the assessment for this course.

So I should go to bed now so I can wake up refreshed for my lesson tomorrow.

Copenhagen!

So I'm in Denmark, Copenhagen to be precise, for the next nearly 3 months.

I managed to fly here on my own without any mishap and met my mentor at the airport. Took us a while to find the place where I'm living though, we got a bit lost, but eventually found it and it's really nice, modern, with a balcony.

Yesterday I met up with some of the others and got a monthly transport pass for buses, metro and trains. In the evening we went to the Student House for International Night which was fun although the international students are crazy!

Today I met up with my mentor for a tour of the city. We went to Rosenberg Castle and to some ruins of previous castles. We ran into the others who had just been to the National Museum and then a random lady proceeded to give us a long talk about some Danish history, can't remember exactly what now, but she took so long she could have probably told us the entire history of Denmark.

We are going to go to the zoo tomorrow which will be fun.
